PRISE is a parent initiated and operated organization to help Scott County parents and families with children who have special needs, learn more about the process of Special Education.

The law defines Special Education as: Specially designed instruction, at no cost to the parents, to meet the unique needs of a child with a disability, including-

        A) instruction conducted in the classroom, in the home, in hospitals and institutions, and in other settings, and

        B) instruction in physical education. But there is a lot more than that. Evaluations, eligibility, IEP's, ARC meetings, related services, IDEA, policies and procedures...just to name a few! If you are unfamiliar with any of these terms, please come and join us to learn about Special Education. Even if you know these terms, join us to help other families learn!

Our organization is working with Ky-Spin, the parent training and information center in Kentucky, and other groups in the area to help bring workshops to Scott County.  These workshops will help to educate parents about different topics of concern.
